Unfound People: Meet Morwenna
2 minute read…
We’re buzzing to share that Morwenna has joined Unfound Studio as Senior Designer. She’ll be shaping our brand projects across categories and has already hit the ground running, working on a distinctive hospitality brand system. Find out more about her below.
What brought you to Unfound?
[MM] Unfound has been on my radar for a few years, since a chance meeting with Jay at a local run club, I’ve been following their work. It’s output in the health and sports space has always interested me - Ingenious, Unsanctioned Athletics and Vjj all overlapped with my interests of running, future tech and women’s health.
Last November I rocked up to an Unfound event and got some insights into their attitude on making considered work that is connected with current culture, utilising their research tool Newwave, as well as bagging myself a handy carabiner (strictly not for climbing) and meeting a bunch of fellow creatives in the running space.
Meeting some of the rest of the team (Hey 👋 Josh, Keith) at a shoot for the Salomon GRVL campaign really reinforced for me that the focus for Unfound is on high-quality work, whilst maintaining good vibes and flexibility.
What do you bring to a studio?
[MM] Since graduating from KSA in 2021, my design practice has molded into a focus on brand and digital - with systems thinking and user interaction as a core focus. I believe brand work should always be rooted in a ‘why’ - visual research, hearing from people and context are all key - and I’ll happily test concepts until they feel solid.
In terms of culture, I’m a big outdoors person and runner, so no doubt I will be roping the team into some trail away-days or track decompression sessions. I also hope that I’ll be able to influence the Unfound design calendar - get us to exhibitions, talks and sharing influences as and when they come through on Slack!
What’s a design project you wish you’d worked on?
[MM] I have two.
Designer and coder Talia Cotton of Cotton Design, gave a talk at OFFF Barcelona a couple of years ago that I often reflect on. Not only was her energy infectious, but how succinctly she spoke about branding and technology and the future of creativity, with code. It gave importance to considering the user in design; “[When design is interactive, it can…] Draw in the user: and elicit empathy” but equally how utilising tech in brand can push design into further, more unexpected spaces.
Then, at Figma Config 2025, I was introduced to the digital-first rebrand of Lloyds by Wolff Olins. The incorporation of the history and heritage of the bank with the consideration for how the modern user interacts with banking - via app, was all folded into the talk.
Not only does the brand work inspire; motion like the gallop of a horse or green swatched from the British landscape. But how Vishal Kapoor and Kishan Koriya, Design Lead and Systems Manager, both at Lloyds, talked about the complexity of understanding the brand, then building out and applying the new design language and system to Lloyds banking app through a process of ‘construct, deconstruct and reconstruct again’ was really informative.
Finally, what’s your order at the coffee shop?
[MM] Always a flat white, in my reusable cup if I remember it.
